Gut Health — Become The New

Health Foundations

It starts
in the gut.

Real, lasting transformation doesn't start with a supplement. It starts with understanding what your body has been trying to tell you all along.

Heather Hill — Become The New

01 — My Story

From frustrated
to finally free.

"I thought I was doing everything right. Eating clean, exercising, staying positive. But my body kept telling a different story."

Years of unexplained symptoms led me here. What shifted everything wasn't a miracle supplement — it was unlearning almost everything I thought I knew.

02 — Nutrition First

Food is the
first medicine.

Before protocols. Before probiotics. Before any supplement. Gut health starts with what's on your plate. This is where your power lies—and where most programs skip ahead too fast.

01

Blood Sugar Stability

Chronic blood sugar swings trigger cortisol, inflame the gut lining, and disrupt the microbiome. Stabilizing blood sugar is step zero—not optional.

02

Protein Priority

Adequate protein supports muscle (your metabolic engine), stabilizes satiety hormones, and provides amino acids your gut lining needs to heal and maintain its barrier.

03

Fiber Intake

Diverse fibers feed beneficial bacteria, support motility, and reduce inflammation. Variety matters—aim for 30+ different plant foods weekly.

04

Anti-Inflammatory Inputs

Omega-3s, polyphenols, fermented foods, and removing ultra-processed inputs shift the gut environment from inflamed to thriving.

Why I start here: I've seen too many people skip straight to supplements and wonder why nothing sticks. Food builds the terrain. Everything else amplifies it.

03 — The Microbiome

Why the gut
runs everything.

Your gut is home to trillions of microorganisms that regulate far more than digestion. When the microbial balance is off, the signals ripple outward—to your immune system, your hormones, your mood, your metabolism.

If you've been dealing with symptoms that don't have a clear diagnosis, the gut is often the missing conversation.

Signs your gut needs attention:

Chronic fatigue
Brain fog
Bloating or gas
Skin issues
Mood swings
Anxiety or depression
Autoimmune flares
Weight resistance
Food sensitivities
Poor sleep
Hormonal imbalance
Sugar cravings

Inflammation

An imbalanced microbiome increases intestinal permeability ("leaky gut"), allowing particles to enter the bloodstream and trigger systemic inflammation—the root of most chronic conditions.

Thyroid Connection

A significant portion of T4-to-T3 thyroid conversion happens in the gut. Dysbiosis can directly impair thyroid function, leading to symptoms even when labs look "normal."

Autoimmune Signals

Research increasingly links gut dysbiosis with autoimmune conditions. Healing the gut doesn't just manage symptoms—it addresses one of the root drivers.

The Gut–Brain Axis

Roughly 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut. The vagus nerve creates a direct two-way highway between your gut microbiome and your mental state. You cannot fully address mood, anxiety, or focus without addressing the gut.

04 — The Protocol

Weed, Seed,
Feed + Stabilize.

Once your food foundations are in place, this four-step framework gives your gut the conditions it needs to genuinely reset and thrive. These aren't quick fixes—they're intentional stages that build on each other.

🌿

Step One

Weed

Remove what doesn't belong. This means reducing inflammatory foods, addressing pathogenic bacteria or yeast overgrowth, and identifying hidden stressors (sugar, alcohol, ultra-processed foods, chronic stress) that disrupt your microbial balance.

🌱

Step Two

Seed

Reintroduce beneficial microorganisms. Quality probiotics, fermented foods (sauerkraut, kefir, kimchi), and targeted strains based on your symptoms help repopulate the gut with bacteria that protect, regulate, and heal.

🌾

Step Three

Feed

Nourish the bacteria you've seeded. Prebiotic fibers—found in garlic, onions, asparagus, oats, and resistant starches—become fuel for beneficial bacteria, helping them multiply and colonize.

⚖️

Step Four

Stabilize

Anchor your progress with protein, muscle-supporting movement, and blood sugar regulation. Stability is what transforms a gut reset from a temporary experiment into a sustainable state of elevated health.
