How to Interrupt Negative Thought Loops (In 5 Minutes)
If you’ve ever felt like negative thoughts are just running quietly in the background of your day—this exercise is for you.
This simple Inner Critic exercise helps you tune in to the voice in your head, recognize repetitive negative thought loops, and begin practicing detached observation—the skill of noticing a thought without becoming it.
It’s not meant to replace deeper work.
It’s meant to help you get started.
How to Use This Exercise
Identify the critic or “voice” you hear most often
Name it (so you can separate you from the thought)
Write out the common phrases it repeats
Contrast it with your wise, grounded voice
This creates awareness—and awareness is always the first step toward lasting transformation.
No, it doesn’t create the same interruption as something hanging on your wall or saved as your phone background.
But it does help you pause, notice, and regain clarity when your mind is noisy.
And that matters.
